♥ Some more outings...a long update..

29 Dec 2007 (Sat)

JY recommended a new place for us to explore. It's been around for some time, just that we didn't really know it. She read on newspapers of the great places to go shopping, and one of them is City Plaza. It's located near Paya Lebar Mrt station, would require a 10 mins walk. This old mall has a lot of shops selling clothes, one can find cheaper goods here since most of them are wholesale retailers. It's orange in colour so it's easy to recognise.

But you would need to be patient and require you to do a lot of walking and exploring around the place for clothes that are cheap and good. Overall, we managed to find some great steals.

It's quite a big mall within itself, where the escalators of one end can bring one to like the 5th storeys whereas the one at the other side only reach like third level. So needs somewhat of walking around. But it's not that big to get lost. hah...some pics that i have taken:
City Plaza
JY with her Penang Laksa
Pf with her Ice Kachang
Me against the light. hahaha

A mini Merry-go-Round that we found in a corner of the mall.
***However, Please take note that alot of the stores in the mall don't put prices on their goods. So they often just name any price, do take note of that. Sometimes, one has to try to bargin with them to get a better price. Tiring to do that. I think they like to say "we are wholesale retailers, so this is already the cost price". Do you think so? haha, that's up to one's discretion.
28 Dec 2007 (Fri)

Had a gathering with my secondary school friends at Parkway Parade. Was on my way when i passed by the decorations outside the mall. I think there isn't much decorations outside malls these days, as compared to years ago. haha. And I took some pics, as follows:

The Enormous Xmas Tree

Frosty and family

Me in a ball?!

Then we chat and had lunch at Pastamania while waiting for some to arrive. Had a great afternoon!

27 Dec 2007 (Thurs)

Met up with my good friend, Anson at Bugis. Had a great time catching up over food. We had "high tea" haha at this nice Shanghainese restaurant. Good recommendation bro! haha. What's more, it's not too ex, students get 20% discount on weekdays! Just need to remember to bring your student id.

The restaurant is called Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant, 南翔馒头店。It's on second level, just above the MosBurger. When one takes the escalator, one will reach right at their doorstep.

Some snacks that i would recommend are as follows:

From left: we have 腰果豆沙饼 with black sesame on the outside, yummy. It's crunchy, and slightly juicy, in fact not as dry as one will imagine.

The second one is San Shu Mei if i didnt remember the name wrongly, the name is kind of long...haha...I quite liked this one, it contains mainly of three kind of ingredients cut into thin shreds- mushrooms, meat and ..oh no i can't remember...hah...but it's really tasty...yummy, as there is a nice faint aroma of the mushroom when you have a first bite. It's slightly juicy too.

The third one ,unlike the first two which are in the salty category, is a sweet one. It has white sesame on the outside and sweet 豆沙 paste inside. The paste is not too sweet, just nice.

Not in the picture, another dish that I would recommend is 小笼包。Tasty too! It goes well with a little vinegar and ginger shreds.

After much shopping, we went for another round of food! haha. This time we went to one of the shophouses that is just across the street from Bugis Junction, not the Bugis village, but the other way. It's around the same area as Ritz (famous for their strudels) if you know what i say. haha.

So, we went to Ah Chew Desserts. Opps, fattening yes. But once in a bluemoon. haha. opps i think i had alot of bluemoons.haha....

Top recommendation that one must try: 杨枝甘露。Lovely name! Sounds rather sophisticated.haha.

It's actually Mango sago with pomelo.

It is bright yellow, orange in colour and has a rich aroma. There's even small chunks of mango and pomelo in the dessert. The pomelo can be slightly bitter but with the combination of the sweet "soup", it won't be that bad. It's probably a little pricey- closing to almost $4. Still, do try it once in a bluemoon. Delicious!

Whereas bro decided to choose something else for a change. Haha, he likes the 杨枝甘露 so for the few times he's been here, he had ordered that. Anyway, this dessert is Black Glutinous Porridge. I thought it looked real artistic with the coconut syrup poured in a very delicate manner. And that's the 瓜子 (melon seeds) in the centre. Not very clear though.

Well, I do look forward to meeting up with Anson and Rui together again. Really thankful for being good friends with both of you! Gal, must jiayou and look forward to your visit back in Sg!
