The Exhibition

I’ll summarise: The exhibits showed us different aspects of secondary students in the past like their passion for sports (the different sport meets etc), their learning beyond classrooms (like seeing that a lot of people dropped out of school to work, secondary students then had the initiative to start night schools to educate drop-outs, and they were often referred to as “小先生” (little sin sehs), or how they attended malay lessons). There were also exhibits of the students’ lives outside schools (how fascinating to find out that students rent lorries for big outings! haha)

Actually students in the past had lives just as similar to us, they also had Extra Curricular Activities, mind you. (Be it drama activities or uniform groups. Haha.) There were also exhibits depicting history like the pop culture then, Anti-Yellow Culture Campaign, and the 513 incident. Yup was a great exposure. We also watched a documentary put up where people were interviewed regarding the past. Below are some interesting pics:

After which we proceeded to Bugis to shop and some of us had dinner there. And if you haven been to Bugis area for some time, there had been some major changes like the food court has moved to level 3 (where one has to cross a little bridge and the little shops are all gone). The basement too had some changes, with Pastamania moved there and some introduction of new shops. Yup that was one day of outing. Haha.. Yeah!
